Journalist/editor and freelance travel copywriter
Young Travel Writer of the Year 2015 & 2016
Travel Blogger of the Year 2017
Hello! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Hannah Summers and I’m a freelance travel journalist/editor, travel copywriter, lifestyle content writer and… accidental club promoter.
Editorial
I’ve worked in the travel industry for over 20 years, and have regular bylines in The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, Conde Nast Traveller, National Geographic Traveller, Lonely Planet, Time Out and several glossy in-flight magazines. When I'm not writing about food and travel you might find me road-testing a car, interviewing a celebrity or eating a burger. Or all three. I’ve written books for Hoxton Mini Press, BMW and Lonely Planet, and worked as a ghost writer for celebrity chefs. I’ve edited, commissioned, interviewed and reported from around the world.
I've picked up several awards for my work, including Young Travel Writer of the Year in 2015 and 2016 plus AITO Travel Blogger of the Year award in 2017. Visit England and the Canada Tourist Board have also awarded my work, and I was shortlisted in the Rising Stars category by British Society of Magazine Editors, for my work on a winter issue of Escapism magazine, which was dedicated to raising awareness on the refugee crisis.
Freelance copywriting and content writing
When I’m not writing for papers and magazines I’m helping global brands with their copy as a freelance travel copywriter and lifestyle copywriter. That’s campaign lines, OOH, scripts, paid and organic social, web copy, email/flows, app copy, long-form articles, SEO-optimised blogs, press releases, reports, branded content, brochures and more.
My clients include Hyundai, Uber, Allbirds, BMW, Davines, Brand USA, Intrepid Travel, British Airways Holidays, Tripadvisor, Accor Hotels, Kip Hideaways and Flash Pack. Head to the ‘content and copywriting’ page to find out more or read some testimonials from my clients here.
